The Eikon Exhibition Centre is taking part in an initiative called Project Confidence with the Association of Event Venues (AEV), which is a national campaign supporting the events industry during this time.
Coinciding with this initiative, the team at the Eikon are excited to announce that we have recently acquired our own mobile Changing Places facility, which will be available at all events taking place on site in the future, including Balmoral Show.
A Changing Places facility offers additional equipment and space than a standard accessible toilet – the facility includes a height adjustable changing bench, a hoist system and adequate space in the changing area for up to two accompanying carers.
“We are delighted to add the Changing Places unit to our ever-growing list of facilities here at the venue,” says Sales & Business Development Executive Shona Ayre. “The Changing Places unit will assist in making our venue accessible, and we hope that both our event organisers and their patrons will benefit from the facility at all future events that take place on site at the venue.”
Orla McCann from Disability Action was invited to attend a socially distanced photo shoot at the venue last week.
“I am delighted that Eikon have now got this facility in place. A Changing Places facility can make all the difference to enable individuals and families to enjoy a full day out. As this facility is portable it will open up all of the Eikon Exhibition Centre site and the many different events that are hosted there to a much wider audience,” said Orla.
