National Balmoral Young Horse classes prominent

Young Horse Classes Remain prominent at the National Balmoral Championships

Young horse classes are currently scheduled for Monday 15th and Tuesday 16th with tension building for the final day of 5, 6 & 7 year old championships on Wednesday 17th July.  Tullyraine Equine Clinic will be presenting a rosette to the highest placed 5 year old on Monday in the 1.20m class, with Smyth Sport Horses presenting a rug for the highest placed 6/7 year old horse in the second class.  Tailored Equestrian will be congratulating the highest placed 5 year old on Tuesday morning with their rosette, while Simon Scott, Lesley Gowdy, JP McGranaghan and Ian Millar are kindly joining forces in true National Balmoral style to provide sponsorship for the show and present a rosette for the highest placed 6/7 year old in the 1.30m class.

The 4 year old championship kindly sponsored by Michele International will be the penultimate class on Tuesday.  With a prize fund of £600 and no qualifying class, it is expected to be a popular class and will be judged under article 283N – 1 round.  

The 5, 6, & 7 year old Young horse Championship classes are scheduled to take place in the main Balmoral Arena providing ideal preparation for those qualified for Dublin Horse Show which takes place just three weeks later.  Advantages include the large atmospheric grass arena with an International Grade 1 surface, international show jumps and FEI Level 2 course Builder Rafael Suarez.

Following the esteemed 5 year old championship, the occasion will be marked with the presentation of the Carling Black Label Trophy to the winner by Storm-tec who manufacture trailers and also retail outdoor clothing. 

The prestigious 6/7 year old championship class kindly sponsored by Electrotech Machinery Ltd will take place around lunch time in the main arena.  It is expected that this class will demonstrate a high level of talent and expertise from across the country.  The respected Fred McIlwaine Trophy will also be awarded to the winner of this class by SJG Specialist Joinery Group.

It is still FREE to spectate at National Balmoral and visitors are very welcome to watch any of the classes and browse through the trade stands on the day.  So if you are looking for somewhere to take the kids during the July fortnight, head on over to Balmoral Park between 14th and 17th July.
